“We made it to Berlin! This is our victory comrades! Finally!”
―Soviet Soldier
General Information[]
The PPSh-41 is a Soviet SMG. It feeds from a 71-round drum magazine and fires a 7.62x25mm Tokarev pistol round.
In-Game Information[]
The PPSH was added in the game on as part of the September Update. When it was first released, the PPSH had pistol inspect animations, a magazine of only 30, the MAC-10 in the viewport model, and had the firing sound of the Uzi and the MAC. It also had no reloading sound along with very high spread. It wasn't shown in the 2.9.9 update log and was removed the next day due to it being unfinished and messy. After some fixes, the PPSH was re-added in the first Halloween Update to the praise of the community.
The PPSH functions similar to the Tommy Gun, with both guns having high magazine capacity and low minimum damage. However, unlike the Tommy Gun, it has low spread. Because of the high fire-rate and low spread, it is useful at almost all ranges.
Pros & Cons[]
Pros:
- High maximum damage.
- Fast rate of fire.
- Fast reload.
- Largest magazine size in-class.
- Fairly low spread.
- Highest total ammo in-class.
Cons:
- Low minimum damage.
Trivia[]
- It's the third weapon in Arsenal to fire from a drum magazine.
- The PPSH is commonly known as the "papasha", a Russian word meaning "daddy." Its formal name is the "pistolet-pulemyot Shpagina", transcribed in English as the Shpagin machine pistol.
- This gun was designed by Georgy Shpagin in 1941, and is still present in countries such as Syria and Albania.
- The PPSH was more commonly used with stick magazines rather than the more iconic drum magazine, as the manufacturing meant drum magazines were not interchangeable. Stick magazines proved both easier to reload and cheaper/easier to manufacture, and as such they superseded the drum magazines.
- When it was first released, the PPSH used to have the pistols' inspect and reload animations.
