Not to be confused with the DBS.

A double barreled shotgun with excellent performance from its 12 gauge rounds, but fast with reloading and low in ammo capacity.
Unit: Classified description.

General Information

The DB Shotgun is a side-by-side double-barrel shotgun with two shells at the ready. Each shell fired from the shotgun via left-clicking will shoot out 9 pellets, dealing 12 damage per pellet at close ranges and 3 damage at long ranges. Right-clicking with the DB Shotgun in hand fires both barrels at once, doubling the number of pellets shot and knockback received while in the air.

The DB Shotgun also grants players the ability to shotgun jump, as known as the recoil jump ability, providing a useful utility both into and out of combat. To shotgun jump, players will need to jump and fire at their feet by either left-clicking or right-clicking. This will launch them into the air, but controlling in mid-air can be rather difficult.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Has recoil jump ability.
  • Extremely fast fire rate.
  • Instant burst firing mode, allowing for higher damage.
  • Fast reload.

Cons:

  • Low magazine tube size.
  • Frequent reloads due to low tube size.
  • Low minimum pellet damage.
  • Massive recoil.

Trivia

  • According to the model's creator, Revenant, the DB Shotgun's model is based on the Super Shotgun from DOOM Eternal, created by Mark Van Haitsma, and the Double Barrel Shotgun from Pavlov VR, created by Emmanuel Marshal.[1]
  • The weapon was wielded with one hand prior to its current model.
  • The previous model can still be seen as a worldmodel.
  • The old DB Shotgun was taken from Typical Colors 2, where it is used by the Flanker class and is known as the Lupara DB.
    • Strangely, the animations of the shotgun were specifically changed for use in Arsenal. They are still the same in Typical Colors 2.
  • It is based on Team Fortress 2's "Force-A-Nature". Both can also use their recoil to perform a double/triple jump.
    • This reference is still prevalent, despite the change of model.
  • It is one of 3 weapons that is capable of recoil jumping, the others being the DBS and the Barrett.
  • The DB Shotgun, along with the Rocket Launcher, the Trench Gun, Peacemaker, Barrett, G-17, the AUG, and the XR15 are the only primary weapons that appear in the Arcade gamemode.
  • It is currently the shotgun with the fastest fire rate even without RMB, as RMB fires both shells simultaneously.
  • This is the signature weapon of the Beach Bum, Campbell, Rough Houser, and Slayer skins.
  • The badge "Evil no More" is obtainable by getting a double barrel shotgun kill with the Campbell character.
    • The badge name, choice of character, and choice of the Double Barrel shotgun as the weapon is a reference to the Evil Dead horror series.
  • The shotgun's old reload sound was taken from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl.
